Job Summary: Presales Solutions Engineer - Data Protection
The Presales Solutions Engineer – Data Protection will operate as a customer-facing cloud security expert, employing a consultative approach to security projects. This role requires a holistic understanding of how security technology drives business objectives. Responsibilities include developing and delivering new security services offerings in response to customer needs and opportunities. This remote position may require occasional reporting to the Austin, Texas office for business requirements as determined by SHI management.
Role Description
- Collaboration: Engage with various client stakeholders including CIOs, CSOs, CISOs, Security Engineers, and procurement to strengthen relationships and understand their goals.
- Service Offerings Knowledge: Master SHI’s service offerings across all solution practice areas through company training and self-study.
- Sales Enablement: Educate sales teams on cybersecurity solution selling and key technologies via one-on-one sessions, team training, and company-wide initiatives.
- Market Awareness: Stay current with new technology, industry trends, and market behavior through continuous study.
- Skill Development: Engage in self-study and utilize lab facilities to enhance job-related knowledge and skills.
- Collateral Development: Create materials to support cybersecurity sales engagements.
- Use Case Development: Build use cases in the SHI lab to bolster sales efforts.

Skill Level Requirements
- Security Frameworks: Intermediate experience and understanding of NIST, HITRUST, CIS, and similar frameworks.
- Technical Security Knowledge: Intermediate knowledge of identity governance and security solutions including DLP, CASB, SWG, DSPM, USB control, file encryption, and ransomware recovery.
- Sales Communication: Intermediate ability to effectively communicate and sell complex technical products, articulating value propositions.
- Mainstream Technologies: Expertise in Proofpoint, Mimecast, Abnormal, Rubrik, Varonis, Sentra, Cohesity, and other relevant technologies.
Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a technical cybersecurity role.
- 3+ years of experience in Security Pre-Sales Consulting.
- Advanced certification (e.g., CISSP, GIAC, SSCP, CISM, CCSP, CEH, CPT, CWSP, CCNP Security, CCIE Security) or relevant professional certifications in Cyber Security OEMs preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 20% for client meetings, internal engagements, conferences, and SHI offices.
- Flexibility for extended hours to complete special projects.
Compensation
The estimated annual pay range for this position is $120,000 - $230,000, including base salary and bonus. Compensation varies based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. Benefits offered may include medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending options.
