Job Description

The Opportunity as an E-Filing Specialist

As an E-Filing Specialist at Seyfarth Shaw LLP, you will play a crucial role in managing electronic document submissions to state and federal courts. This position is integral to our regional and national docketing team, providing essential support to our offices in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Seattle, and other domestic locations. Your daily schedule will be from 4:00 pm - 12:00 am, ensuring timely and compliant filings.

The Day-To-Day Responsibilities

You will collaborate with colleagues on a variety of requests and projects, including:

  • Applying knowledge of applicable court rules for electronic document filing in federal court using the cm/ecf system.
  • Performing electronic document filings after hours when necessary.
  • Filing documents in State and appellate courts, demonstrating expertise in e-Filing requirements across federal and state courts nationwide.
  • Acting as a liaison between the courts and the firm’s attorneys for procedural and technical matters.
  • Responding to procedural inquiries from attorneys to ensure smooth operations.
  • Researching court case information to maintain accurate records.
  • Assisting with special projects as assigned by regional coordinators and the Director and Managing Attorney, Docket.
  • Serving as a back-up for overflow docketing requests when not engaged in e-Filing duties.

What You Bring

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a docket specialist, preferably with exposure to litigation in a law firm environment.
  • Prior experience working within a law firm is preferred.
  • Proficiency in e-Filing documents in state and federal courts.
  • Strong ability to interpret and analyze information effectively.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
