Designing for Justice
The SFO is a unique law enforcement organisation, investigating and prosecuting the most serious, complex and high‑profile economic crimes. We work closely with colleagues across the criminal justice and regulatory sectors in the UK and abroad to address the growing threat from economic crime and to secure justice and compensation for victims.
Team Background
The Graphics and (Electronic Presentation of Evidence) Unit supports the SFO’s Operational Divisions and Enabling Functions. This includes:
- Analysing, simplifying and restructuring evidential source material to produce graphical diagrams throughout investigations and Trials.
- Representing complex evidential information in hard copy and simplified animated or interactive graphics to convey key messages to targeted audiences (including the Judge, Jury and SFO stakeholders).
- Project managing 3rd‑party EPE suppliers for courtroom technology.
- Assisting and advising case teams with digital jury bundles, including hyperlinked indexes, evidence preparation and iPad testing.
- Video conferencing and real‑time transcription services.
- Creating internal and external SFO publications and presentations.
- Creating ED&I promotions.
- Acting as co‑guardians of the SFO’s brand identity alongside Communications colleagues.
- Maintaining a consistent approach to the SFO identity across all platforms and ensuring staff understand its importance.
- Creating content for social media channels.
- Assisting the Print Room with producing printed and scanned materials to a high standard.
About The Job
We are seeking a creative and talented Assistant Graphic Designer to join our team. You will work closely with the social media team to produce photographic, illustrative, animated and video‑based posts for our target audiences, ensuring our brand and identity are maintained. You will keep up to date with social media trends and how best to deploy our brand identity and content across our channels.
You will develop existing skills by supporting Design Leads in creating engaging and effective designs from complex evidential material to support investigations and prosecutions. This includes brainstorming solutions, amending graphics such as diagrams, charts and maps, and assisting with animated and interactive visuals.
You will work closely with senior designers to develop your design skills, analyse complex evidential data and take opportunities to lead your own projects.
Job Description
As an Assistant Graphic Designer you will be responsible for:
- Primary responsibility for supporting creation of SFO social media content and supporting Design Leads with the preparation, concept creation and production of graphic jury bundles; corporate publications, PowerPoint presentations.
- Modifying and revising existing designs to meet client needs, to improve design quality or accessibility issues.
- Interpreting social media briefs into visually engaging content.
- Offering input into creative meetings and sharing ideas.
- Proofreading artwork to ensure the unit produces accurate and high-quality products.
- Producing engaging designs across all media.
- Researching and staying up to date on design trends, social media capabilities and best practices to ensure our designs are innovative and effective.
- Understanding project requirements, collaborating with team members and reporting back progress to the Design Leads.
- Good admin skills and will be required to update and maintain briefs, filing systems and project records.
- Using feedback from other designers to develop your own skills and knowledge.

Selection Process Details
This vacancy uses Success Profiles and will assess Behaviours and Experience.

Interview Stage

Sift is from April 2nd, interviews expected April 13th-16th in person at the SFO in London. All dates are indicative and subject to change.
Requirements
Successful candidates must meet security requirements (Security Check - SC: 5 years UK residency) and complete baseline personnel security standard checks. This job is broadly open to UK nationals, Republic of Ireland nationals, Commonwealth citizens with UK work rights, EU/Swiss/Norwegian/Icelandic/Liechtenstein nationals with EUSS status, and certain Turkish nationals.
