Sephora is looking for a passionate and inventive Intern, Marketplace Engineering to join its digital eCommerce platform team. This 10-week internship offers hands-on learning, career networking and projects that directly impact the business.

Program Details

This remote internship runs from June 1 to August 14, 2026 with a hybrid component during one on-site week in San Francisco. The program offers weekly virtual workshops, networking opportunities and career panels along with a possibility to apply for the LEAP rotational program.

Position Summary

The Intern, Marketplace Engineering will design, integrate, develop and stabilize microservices and API proxies on Sephora’s digital platform. The role involves developing Java based APIs, working with AI tools, and troubleshooting large data sets to support strategic IT decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Java based APIs and web-hooks.
  • Work on AI pair programming tools and related projects.
  • Contribute to system design, architecture and performance improvement.
  • Analyze data sets such as product catalogs and inventory feeds.

Required Skills

  • Understanding of design patterns like circuit breaker, BFF, Saga, and CQRS.
  • Experience with API gateways (e.g., Apigee), Kafka, and event-driven architecture.
  • Familiarity with Oracle, MySQL, No-SQL databases.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk or Dynatrace.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Prerequisites & Eligibility

Graduating in 2026 or 2027, currently residing in the U.S. with remote work aligning to Pacific Standard Time. Applicants should be open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area upon graduation if offered a full-time hybrid role.
