Job Description

Environmental Protection Specialist

Sedona Technologies Government Services is seeking an Environmental Professional to support Indian Affairs (IA) with Environmental Site Assessments. This role is crucial for overseeing real property acquisitions and making recommendations regarding potential liabilities and remediation costs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and review Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and associated documentation.
  • Provide recommendations to the BIA on acquisition matters, particularly concerning landowner liability protections.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory timetables.
  • Provide guidance to BIA regional and agency staff on real estate and environmental activities.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and comprehensiveness of Phase I ESAs or Limited Environmental Due Diligence: Transaction Screen Process (LEDD/TSP).
  • Utilize current ASTM standards (E1527 and E2247) accepted by the EPA for AAI requirements.
  • Collaborate with BIA Branch of Environmental Services, BIA Regional Environmental Scientists, and other DOI programs (e.g., OEPC).
  • Consult with the Office of the Solicitor (SOL) for legal review on proposed acquisitions, liability minimization, policy interpretation, and agreement structuring.

Requirements:

Must meet specific education, training, and experience requirements as set forth in 40 CFR 312.10(b) and 33 CFR 137.25.

Must be an Environmental Professional qualified to conduct or supervise AAI investigations, including Phase I ESAs.
