Job Description
The Mission
The Secret CFO is providing the blueprint for turning good CFOs into the best CFOs in the world. The Secret CFO has become a standout voice in the finance world by stripping away the corporate jargon and "boardroom-speak" that usually makes finance and accounting feel like a chore. We take a “no-BS” approach in our content. What shines for us is insightful, sharp takes that reject the herd.
The Opportunity
And we’re growing. We are looking for a Newsletter Editorial Assistant, Corporate Finance who can bridge the gap between high-level corporate finance and high-quality multimedia storytelling across multiple newsletter products. You’ll be an editorial partner who understands the difference between EBITDA and free cash flow, and you know how to make a conversation about capital allocation sound as compelling as a true-crime podcast. You’ll coordinate between the ads, editorial, and design teams to whip our publications into shape.
What you’ll do
- Center of Gravity: You’ve built and managed newsletters from the idea to the send. You’ll be the logistical heart of our varied properties, making sure that all the elements are right, and in the right place. You’ll create, manage, and publish the multimedia elements for multiple formats.
- Traffic Control: One day you may be scheduling guests for our monthly online broadcast, creating memes for our newsletter, or editing audio interviews for our upcoming podcast. You’ll coordinate with our production partners to make sure their work is done on time.
- End-to-End Publishing: You will own the "Publish" button. This includes assembling our newsletter in Beehiiv, version testing, and distributing the final story across our subscriber list and social platforms.
- Editorial Curation: You’ll review raw interview footage and determine which 90 seconds of a 30-minute talk on "working capital" is the "must-watch" moment for our readers. But you’ll also scour the news for tidbits our audience needs right now. And memes. Lots of memes.
- Independent Project Management: We operate asynchronously. You’ll own your calendar and your projects, moving them from "idea" to "inbox" without hand-holding.
- Creative Innovation: Experiment with new ways to present intensely technical storytelling whether through interactive charts, short-form video, or novel newsletter formats.
- Final word: Act as the final line of defense; you’ll meticulously copyedit every piece of content we produce to guarantee that it’s sharp, error-free, and fits our voice perfectly before it hits an inbox.
Who you are
- The Veteran (5–7 Years): You’ve spent significant time in the trenches of media production in different mediums. You know your way around a DAW, a video suite, and a CMS. You know the difference between what makes a good magazine story and what belongs in a social post.
- The Finance Native: You have a working understanding of corporate finance. You don’t need to be a CPA, but you should know why a rising interest rate environment keeps a CFO up at night.
- The Swiss Army Knife: You’ll have a deep and wide media skillset. You’re equally comfortable writing a punchy headline as you are troubleshooting a glitchy video or tweaking HTML/CSS in a newsletter builder.
- The Fussy Librarian: You’re well-organized, pathologically curious, and possess a sense of humor (because let’s be honest, finance can use it).
