Position Overview

The Senior Grants and Contracts Specialist at Seattle Human Services Department is part of the Safe and Thriving Communities division, created in response to community needs and advocacy. The role involves developing and managing a portfolio of contracts in the Community Safety Investments Contracts team, with over $20M in investments and up to 60 contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, prepare, and negotiate service agreements including budget, performance standards, and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee efficient contract development, execution, and ongoing monitoring including on-site visits.
  • Ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal regulations and provide technical assistance to agency providers.
  • Maintain accurate contract data reporting, review invoices, and monitoring reports.
  • Act as a liaison with community organizations, nurture partnerships and support division priorities.
  • Participate in ad-hoc workgroups and support initiatives such as the Race & Social Justice Initiative.

Qualifications

Minimum educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, or related fields. At least two years of professional experience in contract administration, budget management, or human services administration is required, with additional experience preferred in community-based organizations, non-profit services, or public safety.
