About the Team

Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.

About the Role

GBME is searching for a Technical Analyst Advisory to work closely with various stakeholders including business partners in operations and financial engineering, business analyst, architecture, and infrastructure to understand business requirements and drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions within GBME. The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement market-leading solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence, and value to our business partners and customers.

What You'll Do:

  • Demonstrate informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive to support sizing/development efforts and as input to various project documentation.
  • Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models as required.
  • Participate in the development of detailed project plans, monitor progress against planned objectives, financial review, and secure consensus and co-operation from users and senior management.
  • Work closely across GBME technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle and bridge the gap between business and technology sides of the solution.
  • Liaise between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user needs.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in Global regions.
  • Support production issues and handle escalations during Release cycles as needed.
  • Perform ad hoc work as needed.

Skills You'll Need:

  • 5+ years of business analysis experience working on regulatory initiatives on Technology projects.
  • 3+ years of practical experience and product/business knowledge in Capital Markets.
  • 5+ years working knowledge of Relational databases such as Oracle/SQL, with ability to create and run queries independently.
  • Experience working with all phases of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
  • Knowledge of Unix Tools, shell scripting, SQL queries, PL/SQL.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.
  • Functional testing experience in PROD and NON-PROD environments.
  • Good understanding of FI and OTC products and their pricing (Nice to have).
  • FRM certification (Good to have).
  • A recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science or related field required.
  • Exposure to Risk Watch (Nice to Have).
