Overview
The Manager, ESG Risk Oversight at Scotiabank will join the ESG Risk team within Global Risk Management, supporting the bank's Second Line of Defense. The role contributes to the oversight and execution of the ESG Risk Management Framework with a focus on human rights and social risk aspects.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion a customer focused culture and support credit due diligence processes.
- Assess and advise on social risk management policies and business initiatives.
- Monitor emerging social risk issues, regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain internal systems and pre-qualified lists for social risk consulting.
- Contribute to ESG training, reporting and operational controls.
Qualifications & Expertise
Candidates should have an undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field with 3-5 years of environmental and social risk management experience. Experience within risk or audit roles in financial institutions, and familiarity with social risk assessment methodologies, regulatory requirements and industry standards are essential. Knowledge of Indigenous Rights and Spanish language fluency is an added advantage.
