About the Role
The Director of System Design will lead the design and ownership of core systems including progression, rewards, economies, and metagame structures for a groundbreaking new title based on a popular IP. This role is instrumental in collaborating with design, product, engineering, and analytics teams to ensure systems are engaging, balanced, scalable, and future-proof across mobile and PC platforms.
What You’ll Do
- Design and manage core systems supporting long-term engagement and monetization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance gameplay with business impact.
- Define design philosophies and evaluate system proposals constructively.
- Guide ideation, review documentation, and ensure scalability and live-service readiness.
- Research competitive trends and incorporate emerging tools including AI.
- Partner with leadership to evolve the game into a social, cross-platform live service.
- Mentor designers and nurture a culture of design excellence.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in live service F2P game system design.
- Deep understanding of game systems, player psychology, and progression design.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
- Experience with licensed IP and a passion for immersive game experiences.
- Ability to work in pre-production settings with a strategic, player-focused mindset.
Compensation & Benefits
The role includes a competitive base pay with additional equity, bonuses, comprehensive benefits (healthcare, retirement, pet insurance), paid holidays, free days, and unlimited paid time off. The annual salary for candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY, and WA ranges from $186,300 to $291,000 USD.
