Industrial Automation Project Leader

This professional will be responsible for technically leading industrial automation projects, supplying the needs of teams in maintenance and commissioning of automation systems within the industry across various segments. The role is hybrid, involving programming, testing, diagnostics, and adjustments in equipment and control systems, ensuring proper functioning according to Schneider and client standards. The environment is dynamic and collaborative, ensuring efficient integration between control and safety systems, with a focus on quality, reliability, and compliance with international standards.
Responsibilities
- Technically lead industrial automation projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Define architecture for DCS (Foxboro), SIS (Triconex), and PLC (Modicon) systems.
- Develop technical specifications, I/O lists, diagrams, and control strategies.
- Supervise programming, FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and start-up.
- Ensure compliance with IEC 61511, ISA-88, ISA-95 standards, and internal standards.
- Interface with clients, suppliers, and internal areas for technical alignment.
- Support maintenance and operations by providing training and technical support.
- Develop technical documentation, such as point lists, control diagrams, test plans, and commissioning reports.
- Interact with multidisciplinary teams (electrical engineering, instrumentation, processes, IT).
Requirements
- Proficiency in industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, FF).
- Reading and interpreting P&IDs, electrical, and logical diagrams.
- Knowledge of functional safety systems (SIS).
- Management of schedules and technical resources during commissioning.
- Agile and precise problem-solving skills.
- Clear communication with technical and operational teams.
- Teamwork and technical leadership in high-pressure environments.
- Adaptability to scope changes and field conditions.
- Time and priority management in dynamic environments.
- Commitment to safety and quality in all project phases.
- Multidisciplinary profile and ability to work on interfaces between disciplines such as: design, electrical, procurement, automation, and operation of the respective industrial unit object of this contract and other contractors.
- Proven practical experience in projects with Schneider/Foxboro DCS.
- Proven practical experience in projects with Triconex and Modicon PLCs.
- Proven practical experience in projects with PI System and System Platform.
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., ladder, structured text, control script).
- Knowledge of control network topologies (rings, star, bus, etc.).
- Knowledge of Windows Tools, Word, MS Access, among others.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Advanced/Intermediate English.
- Ability to perform commissioning, troubleshooting, and failure analysis of complex systems.
- Solid experience in industrial automation projects.
- Technical leadership and team management.
Desirable
- Technical Course and/or Engineering Degree (preferably Electrical, Automation, Control, or similar).
- Foxboro Certified Engineer, Triconex TÜV Certification, Schneider Modicon Specialist.
- Familiarity with AVEVA's solution portfolio (Historian, MES, Edge).
