Purpose of the Senior IT Project Manager Role

As a Senior IT Project Manager, you will manage and lead complex Projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they meet business objectives, timelines, and budgets. This role involves overseeing project teams, coordinating resources, and proactively addressing risks and challenges to achieve successful outcomes. You will provide strategic direction, mentor junior project managers, and drive continuous improvement in project management processes across SBM Offshore.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the end-to-end management of high to very high complexity projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including detailed schedules, resource allocation, and robust risk management strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT, various business units, and external vendors, to drive project execution and efficiently resolve any arising issues.
  • Monitor project progress diligently through regular status meetings, updates, and clear reporting, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and aligned on project goals and milestones.
  • Mentor and guide project engineers, managers, and team members, providing expert guidance in project management methodologies and industry best practices.
  • Proactively manage project risks by identifying potential challenges early, developing strategic contingency plans, and implementing effective mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
  • Ensure strict compliance with organizational policies, established standards, and relevant regulatory requirements across all project activities.
  • Facilitate transparent and effective communication between all stakeholders, ensuring that project goals, timelines, and expectations are clearly understood and consistently met.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project management processes, tools, and techniques, promoting enhanced efficiency and overall effectiveness in project delivery.
  • Ensure thorough post-project evaluation, meticulously capturing lessons learned and actively sharing best practices to inform and optimize future project planning and execution.

Education and Certifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or a closely related field is a fundamental requirement.
  • Essential certifications include PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, or ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library).
  • A Master’s degree in business administration, project management, or a related field is preferred, though not strictly mandatory.
  • Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with internal team members, key stakeholders, and external vendors.

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in IT project management.
  • Proven track record in managing and successfully delivering complex IT projects across diverse domains, including software development, infrastructure deployment, and system integration.
  • Strong background and hands-on experience with various project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall, coupled with a demonstrated ability to adapt these methodologies to specific project needs.
  • Extensive experience in managing cross-functional teams, encompassing IT professionals, business analysts, and external vendors.
  • Proficiency in utilizing industry-standard project management tools to effectively track progress, manage resources, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, complemented by a strong ability to manage risks and adeptly handle unforeseen challenges.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certifications are strongly preferred.
