Job Purpose
The Charge Assurance Specialist works closely with the Charge Assurance Auditor to identify revenue management opportunities. They conduct charge reconciliation to ensure optimal charge capture and review hospital services, reimbursement and revenue management in compliance with regulatory guidelines and hospital policy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Charge Assurance Auditor to resolve charge capture issues.
- Monitor and resolve charge related claim edit work queues and dashboards.
- Research and analyze claim edit errors and coordinate with Revenue Integrity departments.
- Review patient accounts to ensure charge accuracy.
- Prepare appeal letters and maintain detailed patient logs of charge discrepancies and resolutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- 1-3 years of charge capture and patient accounting systems experience preferred.
- Familiarity with medical records review, claims processing, and revenue cycle.
- Basic knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.
- Able to quickly learn new proprietary software applications.
- Professionalism in appearance and approach, with strong prioritization skills.
Work Hours
This position may require up to 32 hours per week.
