This is a hybrid role based out of our SAP Vancouver office, requiring in-office presence with the team three days per week.
What You'll Do
As an Agentic AI Engineering Manager, you will lead a feature team dedicated to building and delivering production-grade Agentic AI solutions across SAP's Corporate Processes & Information Technology (C&P) core value chain. Your leadership will drive technical excellence, foster innovation, and ensure the successful delivery of AI capabilities that enhance productivity and growth across areas like Demand Generation, Deal Execution, Opportunity to Cash, Adapt to Consume, Customer Success Management, and Cross Enablement. This role masterfully combines technical leadership with people management to realize our ambitious Agentic AI goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team, cultivating a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning.
- Technical Delivery Management: Oversee the end-to-end delivery of Agentic AI solutions, ensuring adherence to architecture standards, quality benchmarks, and critical business objectives. Drive sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and release management across multiple workstreams.
- Architecture & Technical Excellence: Collaborate with architects and technical leads to define technical strategy, establish coding standards, and ensure the development of scalable, maintainable solutions. Champion best practices in AI agent design, SAP Agentic AI implementation, and multi-agent orchestration.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate effective collaboration among engineering, UX, QA, data teams, and business stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Serve as the primary liaison with product management, architecture, and leadership teams.
- Resource & Capacity Planning: Manage team capacity, skill development, and resource allocation across various concurrent initiatives. Identify staffing needs and actively participate in hiring processes to enhance team capabilities.
- Operational Excellence: Establish and monitor key engineering metrics, implement robust CI/CD practices, drive automation, and continuously improve development processes. Ensure diligent testing, comprehensive documentation, and effective knowledge sharing practices.
- Stakeholder Management: Communicate delivery status, potential risks, and interdependencies to senior leadership. Manage expectations and skillfully negotiate priorities amidst competing demands, all while maintaining team focus and morale.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Encourage experimentation with emerging AI technologies, identify opportunities for process optimization, and drive the adoption of industry best practices within the team.
What You Bring
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
- Engineering Leadership Experience: Over 12 years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in engineering management leading feature teams. Proven success in delivering complex, enterprise-scale solutions.
- Agentic AI & Enterprise AI Expertise: Strong comprehension of agentic AI architectures, multi-agent systems, LLM integration, and various AI solution patterns. Hands-on experience with enterprise AI platforms and frameworks, such as SAP BTP or other leading cloud platforms.
- Technical Foundation: A solid background in software engineering complemented by hands-on experience in modern development stacks, including Python, TypeScript, Node.js, and React. Ability to conduct code reviews, provide expert technical guidance, and make informed architectural decisions.
- Agile Delivery Management: Deep expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies, with a proven ability to manage complex backlogs, sprint planning, and delivery timelines efficiently. Experience with tools like JIRA or Azure DevOps.
- People Management Skills: Demonstrated success in recruiting, mentoring, and developing engineering talent. Strong coaching abilities, with a keen focus on career growth, performance management, and cultivating high-trust team environments.
- Stakeholder & Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences. Experience in managing expectations across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Strategic thinking capability combined with the ability to effectively balance technical debt, innovation, and delivery commitments. Experience navigating ambiguity and making data-driven decisions under pressure.
- Enterprise Software Experience: Familiarity with SAP systems, enterprise integration patterns, and the intricacies of large-scale software delivery within global organizations. Experience working with distributed teams is a definite plus.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English (written and spoken); proficiency in additional languages is a bonus.
