Job Description
About Santander
Santander (www.santander.com) is evolving from a global, high-impact brand into a technology-driven organization, with people at the heart of this journey. We are driving a customer-centric transformation that values bold thinking, innovation, and the courage to challenge what’s possible.
This is more than a strategic shift; it’s a chance for driven professionals to grow, learn, and make a real difference. Our mission is to contribute to helping more people and businesses prosper. We embrace a strong risk culture, and all our professionals are expected to take a proactive and responsible approach toward risk management.
Santander Alternative Investments (SAI) is a growing business, established almost 3 years ago, with already €2.5bn in commitments in core strategies for the group. Our goal is to develop funds where we have a clear competitive advantage to generate alpha for our institutional and UHNWI clients.
SAI provides investors with a range of alternative investment opportunities in Venture Capital, Infrastructure, Trade Finance, Direct Lending, Hospitality, and Fund of Funds, leveraging the strengths and extensive origination capabilities of Santander Group.
The Opportunity: Senior Investor Coordination and Reporting Manager
Santander Alternative Investments is looking for a Senior Investor Coordination and Reporting Manager based out of Madrid.
SAI currently manages or acts as an investment adviser to various infrastructure and climate funds, including senior debt, junior debt/special situations, equity, and venture capital. As part of the next phase of growth, SAI will launch a new High-yield/junior infrastructure credit fund targeted to institutional clients. Santander will co-invest USD 200m in the fund as seed capital and co-investment, which can be drawn first to create a seed portfolio ahead of fundraising. A Climate Venture Fund will also be launched as a follow-on to the current fund managed by SAI. These funds will be marketed to institutional clients (including internal clients, e.g., insurance) and potentially other HNW and Private Banking clients.
SAI is seeking a senior individual who is able to:
- Lead and coordinate fundraising activities, including preparing fundraising documentation, investor decks, and data room management, as part of the investment team.
- Prepare quarterly and annual investor reporting pertaining to the funds managed by the infrastructure and climate VC teams in SAI.
- Act as an interface between investors in the funds at the investment team level, independently answering questions and coordinating responses to queries.
- Drive investor relations efforts: manage existing LP relationships, respond to investor queries, and support capital formation across new and existing funds.
- Potentially lead co-investment discussions with investors and external parties in relation to transactions where either investors in new funds wish to co-invest directly or have potentially established a co-investment fund for the purpose of executing co-investments.
- Coordinate closely with internal teams (risk, operations, compliance, fund administration, and finance) to ensure data accuracy, transparency, and consistency of fund information.
- Contribute to strategy development for new products, investor segmentation, and go-to-market plans in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Support development and update of future digital investor engagement tools.
- Demonstrate proven ability to prepare ad hoc documentation and submissions for institutional and public investment programs, including coordination of required materials and compliance with program criteria.
