Join Sanofi's Specialty Care team, dedicated to transforming care for people with immune challenges, rare diseases, cancers, and neurological conditions. As the Director, Population Health Medical Engagement, you will play a crucial role in delivering breakthrough treatments that offer hope to patients with significant unmet needs.
This Director, Population Health Medical Engagement will be responsible for leading the development of medical engagement strategies for US payers, organized customers, and other population health stakeholders. This includes insight generation, the creation of population health initiatives, and the development of scientific content and educational programs. You will serve as a therapeutic area subject matter expert (SME) for the Non-Alliance Immunology portfolio, supporting customer engagements as required. A key focus will be driving innovation in medical initiatives, simplifying, and enhancing the customer engagement experience through impactful, personalized content tailored to customer needs. This position also involves close partnership with therapeutic area medical units, Value & Access teams, and other internal stakeholders.
The role demands a deep understanding of US healthcare delivery dynamics across health systems, payers, providers, and key influencers, alongside strong expertise in scientific content development, omnichannel and digital engagement, and project management. Responsibilities will include above-brand and cross-portfolio initiatives. This position is remote or home-office based with field-facing duties as needed, reporting to the Senior Director, Population Health Medical Engagement within the Medical Value & Outcomes (MVO) and North America Medical team.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and execute medical engagement strategies, including educational initiatives and content resources, for payer/population health decision-makers and organized customers.
- Design and implement population health initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders to improve quality of care and health outcomes.
- Develop and deliver non-CME medical education programming, often through partnerships with professional societies like AMCP and ASHP.
- Innovate medical programming, scientific content, and omnichannel engagement, tailoring experiences for payer/population health stakeholders to ensure a consistent customer journey.
- Create content implementation strategies focused on personalization and data-driven dynamic content planning.
- Develop and execute a content modularization strategy.
- Act as a Therapeutic Area SME in customer engagements, coordinating with the field MVO team.
- Ensure content strategy and materials align with TA scientific communication plans and Specialty Care Market Access stakeholders.
- Contribute as a TA-SME to Early Scientific Dialogue sessions with organized customers, collaborating with internal teams.
- Manage content workflow from MedHub/Vendor through the review process (MMRC) to the content management library.
- Build trusted relationships with Medical, Legal, Regulatory, and other colleagues to facilitate efficient content approval and calculated risk-taking in dissemination.
- Coordinate with Field Team leaders and Medical Excellence to optimize content usage, customer, and employee experience.
- Advance medical omnichannel engagement by developing and enabling capabilities for an integrated channel content strategy.
- Utilize customer insights, market research, and diverse data to identify innovative educational and content opportunities.
- Collaborate with Global Sci Com, Global and US medical teams, Med Hub, and vendors to ensure content development synergies across TAs and BUs.
- Develop and manage the payer medical consultant panel, insight generation, and other advisory/market research initiatives.
- Work with Global medical publications and TA stakeholders to develop relevant local publications for US payer/population HCDM audiences.
- Partner with Global Medical Information (GMI) to create specific healthcare economic information (HCEI) SRDs for U.S. payer and population health stakeholders.
- Collaborate with HEVA to provide input and medical review of economic models/BIMs, dossiers, and patient estimator tools.
- Support Independent Medical Education (IME) in reviewing payer-related educational grant requests and population health/payer HCDM-focused education opportunities.
- Coordinate with Public Affairs and TA medical units to support scientific engagement with PAG Leadership.
- Participate in and contribute to TA integrated evidence generation planning, supporting US evidence gap analysis.
- Contribute to organized customer evidence generation partnerships as a key team member, serving as TA and Strategy SME.
- Serve as a medical partner to Value & Access brand leads, providing input on product value proposition and supporting account team training.
- Facilitate integration and alignment with key stakeholders including TA medical unit, V&A, HEVA, RWE, and CSU.
- Lead/coordinate TA-related training for the MVO team, serving as SME for team training/certifications.
- Perform medical review for payer-facing resources as appropriate.
- Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for medical initiatives and customer engagement, including content receptivity metrics.
- Contribute to defining and reporting progress on KPIs, deliverables, and impact from medical engagement plans.
- Conduct U.S. tiering of non-HCP payer/HEOR consultants for the Specialty Care business unit.
- Lead a team of MVO advisors who provide field input and support medical initiatives/content/resources.
- Attend relevant scientific/professional meetings/congresses.
- Plan and manage program budgets, ensuring compliance with all local regulations.
- Advanced degree in healthcare or a related scientific discipline (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD, MS), with an MBA or relevant business background being a plus.
- Relevant experience in a specialty care therapeutic area, such as immunology, neurology, oncology, or rare blood disorders.
- Deep understanding of US healthcare delivery dynamics across health systems, payers, providers, and other key influencers.
- At least 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- At least 2 years of experience in medical strategy, content development/design, and scientific communications.
- Strong business acumen.
- Proven experience with omnichannel communications and scientific content development, emphasizing storytelling, creativity, design, and strong communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of the US healthcare delivery landscape and identifying opportunities for scientific partnerships to improve health outcomes.
- Ability to apply adult learning principles to maximize content effectiveness.
- Strong planning and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and work independently on multiple projects.
- Analytical and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Microsoft O365 office suite and content creation software.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment.
