Position Overview

Sanofi is seeking a highly motivated translational scientist to spearhead preclinical drug discovery programs for blinding retinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma. As a Senior Scientist in the Retinal Degeneration group within Ophthalmology Research, you will use innovative experimental approaches and advanced disease models to validate therapeutic strategies and discover promising drug candidates.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively in matrixed, cross-functional teams to generate high-quality data packages to nominate and advance therapeutic candidates toward clinical development.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design and execute in vitro and in vivo mechanism-of-action studies.
  • Lead research projects in a matrixed team environment.
  • Develop assays and collaborate cross-functionally to screen preclinical candidates.
  • Conduct pharmacology and efficacy studies with diverse models.
  • Prepare documentation to support project milestones, publications, and regulatory filings.

About You

Required: Ph.D. or equivalent in molecular biology, cellular biology or related discipline with at least 3 years of research experience in a biopharmaceutical or academic setting. Experience in ophthalmology research including retinal disease, age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma is essential.

Preferred: Experience in drug development, in vivo pharmacology, cell-based and animal models, regulatory documentation, and data analysis using computational approaches (R, Python).
