About the Product Development Manager Role

The Product Development Manager is responsible for managing the development and production of SanMar products, leading the process from initial concept to commercialized product. They work with product and merchandising teams to drive new product development, cost savings, responsible sourcing, and customer satisfaction while mentoring junior staff.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Lead the product development process from design to finished product.
  • Develop fabrics, trims, and styles with suppliers.
  • Research and present emerging material, trim, and style trends.
  • Collaborate with Technical Design to improve fit and quality.
  • Manage lifecycle, cost drivers, and margin requirements.
  • Execute seasonal calendars and manage production capacities.
  • Oversee supplier communications and quality compliance.
  • Partner with Sourcing Team on global sourcing strategies.
  • Ensure social compliance and safety standards are met.
  • Train and develop team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all policies.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4-6 years’ experience in product development and production management.
  • Experience in technical development of bags, luggage, and soft goods.
  • Thorough understanding of garment/textile manufacturing and vendor compliance.
  • Skilled in forecasting, buy planning, and capacity planning.
  • Knowledge in component costing and international trade regulations.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and results-driven mindset.

What Should You Expect?

The role is based at SanMar's Eastpointe office near Seattle, WA with standard hours from 8:00-5:00 PST and occasional travel.
