Position Overview
Samsung Research's AI Center in Mountain View, CA, is seeking top-tier students for a fast-paced, collaborative, and results-driven environment. You will engage in highly visible, challenging, and interdisciplinary projects. This role involves building an adaptive, personalized, contextual, and secure AI model and system designed for fast, accurate, and safe user interactions on Samsung devices.
Internship Responsibilities
- Develop and implement novel deep learning and reinforcement learning algorithms for natural language processing (text, speech) across various applications.
- Contribute to the research initiatives of our AI team.
- Generate innovative solutions, including patents, and publish research findings in top-tier conferences.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Large Language Models (LLMs): model architecture, training/finetuning, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), reasoning, and action planning.
- Autonomous Systems: planning, tool use, agent AI, and agent memory for decision-making, problem-solving, and adaptability.
- Knowledge Augmented AI: knowledge graphs, neuro-symbolic learning, and language prompting.
- Conversational AI: Natural Language Processing (NLP) (language models, semantic parsing, generation), dialogue management (state tracking, policy learning), and representation learning (embeddings, conceptualization).
- Multimodal AI: development for diverse multimodal applications.
- On-device AI: lightweight model architecture design.
- Teamwork and strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in a neural network library such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- A proven track record of research and publications in machine learning and artificial intelligence fields (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI, CVPR, ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, TACL).
Compensation and Benefits
Our total rewards program is designed to attract and retain exceptional talent. The hourly pay rate for this internship ranges from $48 to $63 USD. Actual rates may vary based on role, location, and individual qualifications. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus and comprehensive benefits.
