Job Description
Freight Flow Associate at Sam's Club
At Sam's Club, we are looking for a dedicated Freight Flow Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our inventory and merchandise handling processes, contributing to an efficient and safe club environment.
What you'll do...
You will be responsible for complying with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity, utilizing the Open Door Policy, and applying these principles in daily business processes. A core part of your role involves operating forklifts safely, following Company standards for picking up, moving, placing, and positioning merchandise pallets. You will complete work assignments by collaborating with managers, coworkers, customers, and business partners, identifying priorities and deadlines, communicating progress, and adapting to feedback.
Key responsibilities include receiving, stocking, and organizing merchandise and supplies from distribution centers and suppliers. This involves managing inventory flow, utilizing equipment appropriately, merchandising, handling inventory exceptions, correcting shelf capacities, and maintaining required documentation. You will also provide excellent member service by acknowledging needs, offering guidance on self-service technology, assisting with purchasing decisions, locating merchandise, resolving issues, and promoting company products and services.
Maintaining facility safety is paramount; you will conduct safety sweeps, follow forklift spotting procedures, handle hazardous materials correctly, adhere to steel standard guidelines, and report unsafe situations. Furthermore, you will maintain the sales floor and merchandising presentation by zoning areas, stocking and rotating merchandise, removing damaged goods, setting up displays, and ensuring modular integrity. This includes processing defective merchandise, following sanitation and food safety policies, and monitoring for shrink, security risks, and safety. You will also ensure club pick-up orders are filled accurately and efficiently, assisting with picking and staging products, and performing occasional audits.
Inventory & Forklift Operations
You will handle, move, and display goods safely and correctly, track inventory, maintain in-stock levels, and control shrinkage. Reporting poor inventory practices and low stock levels is essential. Your role requires operating and maintaining forklifts safely, reporting unsafe conditions, and informing management when equipment is not functioning correctly.
Technology & Values
Proactively assist customers with technology services and items, identify shrink opportunities, and maintain equipment. You will embody Sam's Club's core values: Respect the Individual by embracing differences, fostering a culture of belonging, and developing others; Act with Integrity by maintaining high ethical standards, modeling Walmart values, and supporting regenerative goals; Serve our Customers and Members by delivering results with a customer-first approach and making informed decisions; and Strive for Excellence by displaying curiosity, taking calculated risks, and driving continuous improvements.
Benefits

Financial benefits encompass a 401(k), stock purchase options, and company-paid life insurance. Paid time off includes PTO, parental leave, family care leave, bereavement, jury duty, and voting, with amounts dependent on job classification and length of employment. Other benefits include short-term and long-term disability, company discounts, Military Leave Pay, and adoption/surrogacy expense reimbursement.
The Live Better U program provides company-paid education benefits for eligible associates, covering high school completion, bachelor's degrees, English Language Learning, and short-form certificates, with tuition, books, and fees fully paid by Walmart.
