Overview of the Inpatient Pharmacist Role at Saint Luke's

As an Inpatient Pharmacist at Saint Luke's, you will leverage essential knowledge, skills, and critical thinking to provide exceptional pharmaceutical care. This vital role encompasses comprehensive medication management, close collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and strict adherence to all pertinent regulatory standards, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and care quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Medication Management & Dispensing: Accurately prepare and dispense medications, interpret medication orders for appropriateness, and maintain secure medication distribution systems in alignment with internal policies and regulatory bodies.
  • Patient Care & Consultation: Design, recommend, monitor, and evaluate therapeutic regimens. Conduct and meticulously document pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic consultations, provide thorough medication education to patients and caregivers, and ensure cost-effective care delivery.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work seamlessly with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to clarify medication orders and precisely document all changes within the electronic medical record (EMR). Provide timely and concise drug information responses to staff as needed.
  • Quality & Compliance: Rigorously adhere to all state and federal laws and regulations. Actively participate in the assessment, management, and reporting of adverse drug events (ADEs) and medication errors to continuously improve patient safety and outcomes.
  • Leadership & Development: Supervise supportive personnel, effectively manage assigned projects, and ensure attendance at all required departmental meetings and educational programs to foster continuous growth.

Job Requirements

  • Applicable Experience: Less than 1 year in a related field.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross), Licensed Pharmacist (Various).
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.
