Overview
Join a winning team at SAIC’s Space and Intelligence Business Group as a Satellite Systems Engineer supporting innovative space programs for the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.
Role Responsibilities
- Serve as the Program Office technical lead for designing, developing, and integrating complete satellite systems, including spacecraft bus and payload subsystems.
- Translate mission requirements into detailed technical specifications and perform system-level trade studies to optimize performance, cost, and risk.
- Develop and manage overall system architecture, including both space and ground segments.
- Provide technical oversight to contractors and vendors ensuring designs meet program requirements.
- Oversee integration and test activities, including environmental testing for launch and space conditions.
- Collaborate with customers and multidisciplinary teams to align designs with mission objectives and timelines.
- Evaluate prime contractors’ performance during milestone reviews and provide improvement recommendations.
- Identify and manage risks across the systems engineering lifecycle with effective mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree with 14 years of experience, or Master's degree with 12 years of experience; advanced degree with commensurate experience considered.
- At least 6 years experience on Government or Commercial satellite programs as a lead system engineer or SME.
- Demonstrated experience with DOD and Intelligence Community Program Office best practices.
- Strong interpersonal, briefing, writing, and communication skills for diverse audiences.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Aerospace, Electrical, Systems Engineering or related STEM fields.
- Deep knowledge of satellite subsystems including ADCS, power, propulsion, RF communications, and thermal control.
