Overview

SAIC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support TR-343 Transducers for the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Bedford, IN.

Typical Tasking

Engage in engineering and planning for production projects, spanning short-term tactical planning to long-term strategic planning.

Mechanical Engineering Support

  • Engineering Support: Provide support in project development, equipment repair, preventive maintenance, and infrastructure design including facility repair, new construction, and various engineering studies (campus design, building layouts, building system designs).
  • Tactical Facilities Support: Develop scope and cost estimates, plan projects, track progress, and resolve action items.
  • Strategic Facilities Support: Gather requirements for facility investments, prepare cost estimates, assess alternatives, and deliver investment recommendations to the Government with cost and scheduling details.
  • Operations and Sustainment Support: Conduct surveys and inspections, support condition assessments of structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, and assist with project management in tracking cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Space Configuration Management and CAD Support: Create AutoCAD drawings for floor plans, layouts, and systems furniture design and provide associated bills of materials.
  • Construction and Sustainment Project Management Support: Apply PMBOK principles to manage and coordinate project planning, scheduling, tracking, and technical documentation for approvals.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 8 years of experience in modeling and simulation, including facility and system design. Must be a U.S. citizen and capable of obtaining a secret clearance (SAIC will sponsor the process). Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (Word, Excel, databases) is required.

Desired Experience

Experience engaging Government customers to capture and develop project scopes for new construction or repair, cost estimation, and project scheduling with work breakdown structure.
