Opportunity

We are actively seeking a Director, Consulting with unwavering enthusiasm for impact to expand our impact investing consulting practice. In this pivotal role, you will direct multiple projects simultaneously, covering a wide range of environmental and social topics and client types. You will lead project teams to support clients in understanding the power and opportunities of catalytic capital and private sector engagement, designing and executing such initiatives, measuring their outcomes, and sharing the learnings. You will also contribute significantly to both business development and internal initiatives, playing a crucial role in accelerating SAGANA's growth and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively lead projects focused on improving human and planetary health, including developing impact investing and blended finance strategies, engaging private sector capital, and creating more inclusive processes and practices.
  • Conduct research and analysis of markets, capital flows and incentives, sectors, companies, and business/organizational models. You will engage deeply with technical content and produce deliverables alongside your project team members.
  • Ensure high-quality, on-time delivery across multiple projects by building and directing work plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Develop junior team members through regular project delivery and mentorship.
  • Strengthen existing client relationships and identify/cultivate new ones to generate new business for SAGANA. As a Director, you will be responsible for writing proposals and pitching new projects to both existing and new clients.

Skills and Experience

  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of 3 years successfully working in a well-established consulting firm, demonstrating expertise in consulting practices.
  • Experience working in emerging markets is a plus; experience with culturally diverse client and colleague teams is essential. You are a global citizen who thrives working remotely and across time zones.
  • A strong understanding of investing, catalytic capital, and/or blended finance, having regularly conducted at least two of the following: due diligence, buy/sell advisory, worked at an impact investing fund, guided a social enterprise, or worked at a development organization or foundation.
  • Commitment to and experience in at least one social or environmental impact area such as climate, agriculture and food, health, supply chains, fintech/financial inclusion, and infrastructure.
  • Strong project management skills in leading complex projects with multiple and diverse stakeholders, seamlessly working across public and private actors as a bridge between them.
  • Thrive in an entrepreneurial culture, being proactive, detail-oriented, and able to deliver work at both strategic and tactical levels with unwavering commitment to quality, enjoying building new ventures.
  • Skilled communicator, both written and oral, with strong presentation and facilitation skills, unafraid to deliver challenging or contrarian messages.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other languages is an added advantage.
