Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Assistant Onshape with strong Onshape experience to support the Lead Designer and R&D Manager. This position focuses on creating detailed 2D drawings, assembly documentation, and manufacturing-ready outputs from existing 3D models. The ideal candidate thrives in structured environments, prioritizes exceptional quality, and communicates proactively with cross-functional team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed 2D drawings, exploded views, assembly instructions, and manufacturing documentation from provided 3D models in Onshape.
- Edit and update existing parts and assemblies, including dimensions, tolerances, part properties, and configurations.
- Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) in Excel with proper version tracking.
- Document revisions and clearly communicate updates to the Lead Designer and internal team.
- Support ongoing product development efforts through structured documentation and CAD execution.
- Ensure high-quality outputs that meet manufacturing and tolerance standards.
Qualifications
- 2–3+ years of hands-on experience with Onshape as a primary CAD tool (portfolio or public Onshape examples required).
- Strong mechanical knowledge, including tolerances, materials, manufacturing processes, assemblies, and basic GD&T.
- Experience producing manufacturing-ready documentation and detailed technical drawings.
- Proficiency in Excel for BOM creation and tracking.
- Highly proactive communicator who keeps stakeholders informed without needing reminders.
- Organized, reliable, and process-oriented with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable working MST hours with consistent availability.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Onshape configurations, variables, or FeatureScript.
- Familiarity with other parametric CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.).
- Experience supporting senior designers or inventors on mechanical projects or prototypes.
