Tutor Role Overview
As a Math Tutor, you will manage a small caseload of students, providing daily, individualized math instruction through remote sessions. You will utilize the Saga Connect online learning platform and implement Saga’s proprietary curriculum to help students achieve their academic goals. Beyond academics, you will serve as a mentor and advocate, building meaningful connections with students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily math tutoring to an assigned caseload of students for multiple class periods via Saga Connect.
- Develop lesson plans and prepare for tutoring sessions using the Saga Curriculum.
- Manage and analyze student data to personalize math instruction and adapt lesson plans.
- Maintain attendance records, monitor academic progress, and provide feedback.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians via preferred methods (email, text, phone).
- Navigate and troubleshoot various technology (hardware and software) issues.
- Develop student incentives, trackers, and support celebrations, awards, and recognition.
- Proactively respond to emails and Slack messages daily, consulting with your Site Director.
- Participate in weekly observation, feedback, reflection, and professional development sessions.
- Build strong relationships with students to set expectations and manage behavior.
- Foster positive relationships with teachers, staff, and the community.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by your Site Director or school site.
Qualifications
- U.S. citizen residing within the U.S. 50 states.
- Age 18 or over with a high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to clear a Criminal History Check and other required security/health checks.
- Reliable on-camera presence required during tutoring sessions.
- Access to personal, reliable internet service.
