Job Description
About the Role
RVO Health is seeking an AI Engineer to develop AI-powered tools for internal teams. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role within the growing AI Ops function. You will design and build production-grade AI Assistants that automate real workflows, integrate with enterprise tools, and adhere to strong software engineering principles. This is not about building demos, but about creating systems used daily by RVO Health employees.
The ideal candidate has a broad understanding of the AI development stack, from workflow automation design and prompt fine-tuning to API development and third-party platform integration. You should be comfortable in a fast-paced setting, capable of translating business workflows into technical architectures, and committed to delivering reliable, maintainable, and secure work.
This role reports to the Director of AI Ops & Platform Engineering and collaborates with the AI Ops team, security, IT, and platform engineering. It offers an early and influential position in a program aimed at boosting AI adoption across RVO Health.

RVO Health maintains an in-office work schedule to foster collaboration, culture, and accountability. Employees are expected to work from our Fort Mill, SC, Minneapolis, MN, or Denver, CO office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Remote work is permitted on Mondays and Fridays.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and iterate on AI Assistants integrated with enterprise tools such as Jira, Slack, and internal data sources.
- Develop and maintain prompt engineering frameworks, evaluation pipelines, and feedback loops to continually enhance assistant quality and reliability.
- Build and maintain APIs, backend services, and integrations that connect AI capabilities with existing team tools.
- Collaborate with AI Ops, security, and platform engineering teams to ensure production-grade, secure, and observable systems.
- Contribute to a scalable framework for developing new AI Assistants as the program expands.
- Evaluate new models, tools, and libraries, providing recommendations for adoption.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to AI outputs, data handling, and responsible AI use.
- Contribute to technical documentation, runbooks, and onboarding materials to support team scaling.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 4+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 1 year focused on AI development or LLM-powered applications.
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) and large-scale prompt engineering.
- Experience leveraging Claude Code for agentic coding.
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs and enterprise tools (Jira, Slack, etc. are a plus).
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: version control, testing, CI/CD, and code review.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with non-technical stakeholders to understand workflows and translate them into technical requirements.
