Job Description:

Russell Investments is seeking an experienced IT infrastructure leader to serve as Director – IT Infrastructure, Mumbai, acting as the Regional Head for infrastructure operations in India. Reporting to the Global Head of Infrastructure, this role will be accountable for the delivery, reliability, and modernization of the firm’s infrastructure in Mumbai while ensuring alignment with global standards and contributing regional insights to enterprise initiatives.

This leader will oversee a regional team supporting global operations, partner with global counterparts, and ensure the Mumbai hub delivers secure, resilient, and scalable infrastructure. The role offers significant leadership opportunity with high visibility within India and strong connection to enterprise-level transformation programs.

Executive Visibility & Growth

  • Reports directly to the Global Head of Infrastructure.
  • Serves as a critical member of the Mumbai leadership team.
  • Provides regional perspective into global forums when required.

Key Responsibilities:

Regional Strategy & Alignment
  • Own and execute the Mumbai infrastructure roadmap, ensuring alignment with global strategy and standards.
  • Provide regional insights and feedback into enterprise-wide infrastructure initiatives.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead and grow a high-performing regional team, fostering collaboration and operational excellence across engineering, operations, and support.

Cloud & Platform Operations
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of cloud and on-premises infrastructure supporting Mumbai and global business functions.

Reliability, Resilience & Security
  • Ensure 24x7 reliability, performance, and security of systems supporting trading, analytics, and enterprise operations.
  • Lead regional DR/BCP testing, audit readiness, and compliance controls.
  • Partner with cybersecurity and risk teams to meet SOX, GDPR, and India-specific regulatory requirements.
Vendor & Financial Management
  • Manage regional vendor and service provider relationships, ensuring SLAs meet business needs.
  • Optimize regional infrastructure spend and support contract negotiations in collaboration with global procurement.
Modernization & Efficiency
  • Drive regional modernization initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure Mumbai infrastructure integrates seamlessly into global platforms and transformation programs.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; MBA a plus.
  • 15+ years of IT infrastructure experience with 5+ years in leadership roles managing regional or large-scale teams.
  • Experience leading offshore or shared service delivery teams is strongly preferred.
  • Strong expertise in: Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments, Virtualization (VMware) and Enterprise Networking (Cisco, Palo Alto), Automation & DevOps tools (Terraform, Kubernetes, GitLab).
  • Proven experience in regulated industries, preferably financial services.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity, compliance, and audit frameworks including India-specific requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into secure, reliable, and scalable solutions.
