Instrumentation Analyst

The Instrumentation Analyst plays a critical role in establishing and maintaining standardized, scalable, and reliable client-side event tracking across RSI’s digital products. This role is responsible for translating tracking requirements into structured event specifications, enforcing instrumentation standards, and ensuring the quality and consistency of event data across web and mobile platforms. Working closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Analytics stakeholders, the analyst owns the centralized event registry, validates implementations through QA processes, and enforces governance across all instrumentation efforts. By ensuring event data is accurately defined and consistently implemented, this role enables trustworthy downstream measurement, reporting, and data activation.
What You'll Do
- Define, document, and maintain standardized event tracking specifications, including naming conventions, payload structures, and parameter usage.
- Own and manage a centralized, version-controlled event registry across web and mobile platforms.
- Partner with Product, Marketing, and Analytics stakeholders to translate business requirements into structured tracking specifications.
- Collaborate with Engineering to support implementation, deployment, and validation of instrumentation across digital products.
- Validate event tracking through QA processes, monitoring, and debugging tools to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Enforce governance standards related to taxonomy, required fields, naming conventions, and event consistency.
- Own instrumentation intake, prioritization, and change management processes for tracking requests.
- Identify and resolve inconsistencies, duplication, and gaps in event tracking across platforms.
- Support configuration and maintenance of tag management systems, analytics SDKs, and collection tools in alignment with platform standards.
- Maintain documentation and promote best practices to ensure consistent instrumentation across teams.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Product Management, Library Sciences, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 3+ years in digital instrumentation, analytics implementation, QA, or data governance roles.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: 2+ years of experience working with Product, Marketing, Engineering, or Analytics teams to define tracking requirements.
- Event Architecture: Foundational understanding of event-driven tracking systems, data layers, and client-side instrumentation patterns.
- Instrumentation QA & Validation: Experience validating event tracking in web and mobile environments, including debugging and monitoring tools.
- Governance & Documentation: Experience maintaining event registries, taxonomies, and enforcing data collection standards.
- Platform Familiarity: Exposure to tag management systems, analytics SDKs, and instrumentation workflows.
- Problem Solving: Ability to identify inconsistencies in tracking and recommend structured solutions.
- Able to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally.
