Student Nursing Assistant - Nursing Administration
Rush Oak Park Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Nursing Assistant (SNA) to join our Nursing Administration department. This is a Restricted Part Time position with a Shift 1 schedule, working 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of a professional nurse, the Student Nursing Assistant will provide essential patient care, including:
- Assisting patients with daily living activities, transfers, and mobility.
- Supporting skin, bowel, and bladder programs.
- Maintaining a clean and safe patient environment.
- Applying safety devices correctly.
- Preparing patients for meals and assisting with feeding.
- Performing accuchecks and documenting blood sugar levels.
- Observing and reporting any changes in patient condition to the RN.
- Maintaining therapeutic relationships and providing customer-focused care.
- Communicating effectively with patients of all ages and cognitive statuses, respecting cultural diversity.
- Collaborating with peers and hospital staff to foster positive working relationships.
- Ensuring accurate and timely computer documentation at the point of care.
- Notifying the charge nurse when leaving the unit.
- Promoting patient independence through assistance with personal hygiene and daily living.
- Accurately calculating and documenting calorie counts, intake, output, and patient weights.
- Assisting with transfers and mobility using appropriate techniques and devices.
- Aiding with bladder and bowel elimination programs and specimen collection.
- Enhancing patient satisfaction through hourly rounding and prompt response to call lights.
- Working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure high levels of patient care.
- Adhering to CDC guidelines for hand washing and isolation precautions.
- Remaining on the floor during shift report unless otherwise directed.
- Teaming with nurses to ensure patients feel safe and well-cared for.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelors or higher Registered Nursing Program.
- Successful completion of at least one semester of formal nursing education, including clinical experience, OR current CNA certification.
- Current CPR certification.
- Entry-level experience.
- Good communication skills.

- Familiarity with patient care equipment.
