About The Role: Head of Data Analytics

We are actively seeking a Head of Data Analytics to fully own, lead, and evolve our comprehensive analytics function across product, marketing, and overall business performance. This pivotal role extends beyond mere reporting; you will be instrumental in defining success metrics, ensuring rigorous metric discipline, and driving critical decision-making with unparalleled clarity and accountability.

As the Head of Data Analytics, you will lead by example, establish the highest standards for analytical excellence, and inspire your team to operate at a high-performance, execution-first level. We are looking for an individual with exceptional leadership capabilities, a strong competitive mindset (a background in sports or performance-driven environments is a significant advantage), and the ability to approach product metrics with meticulous precision. This role is crucial for Ruby Labs' continued growth and demands someone who takes full ownership of outcomes, not just insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the entire analytics vision and execution strategy across product, marketing, and revenue streams.
  • Lead, mentor, and challenge Data Analysts, consistently raising the bar on analytical thinking, ownership, and operational speed.
  • Define, standardize, and strictly enforce product and business KPIs throughout the organization.
  • Build, maintain, and continuously evolve executive-level dashboards specifically designed for real decision-making, moving beyond vanity metrics.
  • Perform deep user behavior analysis, funnel analysis, retention analysis, and critical 'aha moment' discovery.
  • Translate complex data insights into clear, decisive, and actionable recommendations for Product, Growth, and Executive Leadership.
  • Establish and nurture a culture of unwavering metric accountability, ensuring every feature, experiment, and campaign is measurable.
  • Design and maintain robust SQL-based data models that are scalable and aligned with business growth.
  • Proactively monitor key metrics, detect anomalies swiftly, and take decisive action before issues become widely apparent.
  • Partner closely with Product Owners, Engineering, Marketing, and Leadership teams to align data strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Actively give and receive direct, actionable feedback to foster continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the single point of ownership for all product and business metrics.
  • Drive the team forward with discipline, clarity, and exceptionally high standards.
  • Demand precision, consistency, and accountability in all reporting and analytical outputs.
  • Be comfortable making challenging or unpopular decisions when data unequivocally dictates the path.
  • Operate with a strong performance mindset, where speed, focus, and results are paramount.
  • Treat metrics as a dynamic control system, rather than just a static reporting layer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an analytical field such as Math, Data Science, Economics, or a similar quantitative discipline.
  • 5+ years of extensive experience in Data Analytics, including demonstrable experience in leading or mentoring other analysts.
  • Strong foundational background in Product Analytics and a proven track record of driving data-driven decision-making.
  • Advanced SQL skills with hands-on experience in building scalable, reliable data models.
  • Direct experience with product analytics tools such as Mixpanel, GA4, Amplitude, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency with Business Intelligence (BI) tools like Tableau, Looker, or equivalent.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to discern both intricate details and the broader strategic picture.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including the confidence to challenge stakeholders effectively.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a full ownership mindset.
  • Experience working within subscription-based or highly data-driven business models.

Nice to Have

  • A background in sports, competitive environments, or high-performance teams.
  • Experience in Marketing Analytics, including Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and attribution modeling.
  • Proficiency with Python or R for advanced statistical analysis.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like GCP, and data warehousing solutions such as BigQuery or ClickHouse.
  • Familiarity with modern data stack tools like dbt, Airflow, or similar orchestration platforms.
  • Experience with Git and participation in code review processes.

Location

Ruby Labs operates within the CET (Central European Time) zone. We welcome applicants from any country, provided they are located within approximately ± 4 hours of CET. This flexibility ensures optimal collaboration and communication during core working hours for the Head of Data Analytics role.
