Role Overview
RTX Enterprise Services is seeking a Principal Specialist, Cloud Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial for enabling the Enterprise Services SIOP application suite through infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, and IT support. You will be involved in support, planning, defining best practices, and participating in collaborative meetings.
Key Responsibilities
As a Cloud Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software for Windows/Linux infrastructure in Azure & AWS cloud environments.
- Managing servers, logical and physical storage, cross-platform authentication, and access control.
- Configuring software and licenses.
- Working with a small team on cloud projects and system support, delivering practical solutions to complex problems.
- Designing and supporting new and existing cloud application infrastructure, overseeing cloud operations, and designing infrastructure for new workloads.
- Continuously improving and maturing cloud services.
- Providing IT systems administration in heterogeneous RedHat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows environments, working in both cloud (Azure & AWS) and on-premise environments.
- Creating and maintaining system documentation, including best practices, procedures, and policies.
- Working effectively in a geographically distributed team, engaging in multiple initiatives simultaneously, and working independently with users to define concepts.
- Supporting systems that operate 24x7, occasionally requiring work outside standard hours.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Azure and AWS environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience deploying and managing cloud-based solutions on Azure and/or AWS.
- Expertise in administering both Windows and Linux server operating systems.
- Robust understanding of computers, networks, servers, storage, and databases.
- Experience in server architecture and troubleshooting methodologies.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Ability to develop solutions and document technical issues.
- Proficiency with technologies like Active Directory, WSUS, and VMware.
- Prior experience in systems and networking administration beyond basic account maintenance.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Terraform/HCL) for automation and optimization.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
- Microsoft Azure certification(s).
- Knowledge of SIOP Rapid Response.
- Ability to support 24x7 operations beyond standard work hours.
Work Location & Arrangement
This position is designated as remote and requires the successful candidate to work from one of the 50 U.S. states. While primarily remote, occasional travel to a site location may be required. This is a U.S.-based role.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $86,800 - $165,200 USD. RTX offers a robust total rewards package, including competitive compensation, healthcare, wellness, retirement, and work/life benefits.
