Job Description
About Rovio Entertainment and Angry Birds Friends
Rovio is part of the SEGA family and world famous for our flagship IP Angry Birds. As an employer, we are looking for an enthusiastic Data Analyst Intern to join our Helsinki-based team and support one of Rovio’s most successful live games, Angry Birds Friends—the last true slingshot game from our iconic IP, with strong growth potential ahead.
In this role, you’ll help turn player and business data into clear insights and practical recommendations that improve the game experience and drive sustainable growth for a title enjoyed by millions of players worldwide.
We’re looking for someone who is analytical, proactive, and excited to learn by doing. You’re comfortable working hands-on with data, building analyses with SQL and Python, and communicating results in a way that helps teams make better decisions. You’re curious about player behavior, interested in how games and monetization work in practice, and motivated by business outcomes.
This is a paid 6-month internship, with a preferred start in April 2026. Please note that relocation or visa support is not provided for internship roles. The team is located in our HQ in Espoo, Finland and works in a hybrid mode with 2 days onsite at the office.
What you'll do: Impact and Fun
- You’ll use analytical knowledge to understand how millions of players interact with the game and share recommendations that make their experience even better.
- Dive into our massive data warehouses and craft clean, optimized SQL queries to gather the specific information we need to move forward.
- Use your Python knowledge to automate, clean data, and build reproducible workflows that help the team access insights quickly.
- Collaborate with product teams to design A/B tests, define success metrics, and interpret the results to help us trust in the next great game feature.
- Keep a caring eye on key performance metrics (KPIs), investigate any fun surprises or anomalies you find, and share your findings with clarity across the team.
Experience and Skills We're Looking For
- You’re pursuing (or have recently completed) a degree in a relevant field (like Data Science, Statistics, or Economics) and bring a supportive, business-driven mindset.
- You have a good understanding of Statistics and Econometrics—you know how to apply these concepts to real-world player data.
- You have strong SQL expertise, comfortable using joins, CTEs, and window functions to responsibly handle data.
- Python is a familiar tool for you, especially for data analysis and using libraries like pandas or numpy.
- You communicate insights with clarity and enthusiasm, and you’re comfortable managing your tasks in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent English communication skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- You have an awareness of SQL performance optimization.
