Job Summary
The laboratory of Dr. Megan Radyk in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics is seeking a Research Technologist to support basic and translational research in pancreatic cancer. The lab focuses on understanding how metabolic changes influence cancer formation, aiming to develop new strategies for cancer detection and prevention. Research methods include primary cell culture, mouse models, clinically relevant samples, transcriptomics, and metabolomics to investigate pancreatic cancer initiation mechanisms, with an emphasis on cell communication and competition.
The ideal candidate will be organized, reliable, and capable of independent and collaborative work, possessing strong communication and time management skills. Responsibilities include general research duties, administrative support, and daily lab operations such as managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The candidate will also maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures and assist in training other lab personnel.
Pay Range: $50,456 - $63,986 annually, including a comprehensive benefits package. The actual offer may vary based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline and one (1) year of equivalent full-time laboratory experience.
Note: Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong organization, record-keeping, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and present data.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with standard computer software (Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism) and willingness to learn new programs.
- Experience with molecular cell biology, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, qPCR, mammalian cell culture, and microscopy.
- Experience with mouse husbandry and handling.
