Job Description

Critical Care Nurse

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking passionate Critical Care Nurses to join our team for full-time day and night shifts. Our Critical Care division offers opportunities to work in highly specialized areas, including the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU/step-down), and our Chemotherapy department.

Critical Care Nurse Responsibilities Include:

  • Advanced assessment of a patient’s condition and planning/implementing care plans.
  • Providing advanced life support including ventilator support and assisting physicians with procedures.
  • Observing and recording patient vital signs and intake/output hourly.
  • Ensuring proper function of ventilators, monitors, and other medical equipment.
  • Administering continuous vasoactive and cardiac medications and ordering diagnostic tests.
  • Collaborating with the critical care team and providing care using nursing standards and Hospital/ICU protocols.
  • Acting as patient advocates and providing education and support to patient families.
  • Caring for both medical and surgical patients, including immediate post-operative care.
  • Responding to Rapid Responses and medical emergencies across the campus.
  • Participating in end-of-life conversations and collaborating with Palliative Care and Hospice teams.
  • Providing CRRT therapy.

Qualifications:

  • Required Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience; OR one (1) year of full-time critical care experience; OR two (2) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting; OR one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park nursing orientation with the ability to function independently for three (3) months as a Nurse I.
  • License Requirement: License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a critical care, emergency medical, or intensive care setting is strongly preferred.

Compensation:

The starting rate of pay is $47.58 per hour. There is an additional night shift differential of $6.50 per hour. Actual offer may vary based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
