Advanced Practice Provider at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join their Thoracic Surgery Department. This crucial role involves the evaluation, treatment, and management of both acute and chronic phases of illness in patients. The Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for assessing physical symptoms, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing comprehensive treatment plans, and prescribing necessary medications. This position ensures continuous patient care throughout their medical journey at Roswell Park.

A key aspect of this role includes educating and mentoring other clinical staff, such as Advanced Practice Provider I colleagues, nursing staff, residents, fellows, and various healthcare interns and students, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Candidates must meet the qualifications for either the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant educational path, along with general Advanced Practice Provider experience requirements.

Nurse Practitioner Educational Path:
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Current New York State Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or another national certifying body recognized by Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA).
  • Master’s or higher-level degree in Nursing.

Note: As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC or other national certifying body recognized by HCFA within nine (9) months of their appointment to this title as required by Medicare.

Physician Assistant Educational Path:
  • License to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of New York.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission for Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) or other national certifying body recognized by the New York State Education Department.
  • Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in Physician Assistant Studies; or Bachelor’s or higher-level degree and completion of a Physician Assistant Certificate Program recognized by the New York State Education Department.
AND
Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Educational Path:
  • The equivalent of two (2) years of full-time progressively responsible Advanced Practice Provider experience in a service line at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center or at a cancer care or acute care facility recognized as comparable by Roswell Park.

Note: As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of their appointment to this title. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
