The Engineering Team

The Engineering team is crucial for the seamless, safe, and sustainable operation of the hotel. In partnership with all operational departments and senior leadership, the team ensures the integrity, performance, and longevity of the property’s physical assets. The Director of Engineering reports to the Hotel Manager and leads a multidisciplinary team, fostering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Your Role as Director of Engineering

As the Director of Engineering, you will be the steward of the hotel’s physical environment. Your responsibilities include ensuring flawless functionality, upholding the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and guest comfort. Your leadership directly impacts exceptional guest experiences, protects the property as a long-term asset, and supports Rosewood Hotel Group’s commitment to responsible operations. You will collaborate with senior leadership, operations heads, external consultants, and regulatory authorities on capital planning, energy management, compliance, and talent development.

How You’ll Make the Place

• Lead all engineering, maintenance, and technical operations for safe, efficient, and uninterrupted hotel functionality.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for all hotel areas and systems.
• Drive financial discipline through budgeting, cost control, and capital planning.
• Champion energy management and sustainability initiatives.
• Ensure full compliance with OSHAD, fire, safety, and statutory regulations.
• Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing Engineering team through training and performance management.
• Oversee contractors and service providers to ensure technical excellence and value.
• Anticipate and respond to guest and operational needs with professionalism and urgency.

Could This Be You? Candidate Profile

• 10+ years of hotel engineering experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
• Strong technical expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire & life safety systems.
• Proficient in budgeting, CAPEX planning, and cost control with a commercial mindset.
• Proven track record in energy management, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
• Leadership style characterized by clarity, calm, and team development through coaching.
• Fluent in English with effective communication skills across diverse teams.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of making sound decisions under pressure.
