Job Description
Parish Custodian at Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton, Ontario
Annunciation of Our Lord Parish in Hamilton is seeking a part time Cleaner. Reporting to the Parish Priest, you will commit to working the required hours with some flexibility needed for seasonal and liturgical events.
Hours: 21 to 25 hours per week.
Schedule: 3 days a week from 7am to 2pm (includes unpaid lunch).
Primary Responsibilities
- Vacuum and clean all surfaces around the building.
- Dust the Sanctuary and window sills.
- Clean office area weekly (mop, dust, wipe down counters).
- Clean the parish centre kitchen, including stove as necessary.
- Supply and stock bathrooms with soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
- Order cleaning supplies as needed.
- Ensure Garbage, Recycling, and Green bin are taken out on collection day.
- Empty garbage and recycling around the building as needed.
- Light gardening (weeding/watering) during spring and summer.
- Perform salt and light shovelling as needed.
- Small maintenance and repair jobs (changing light bulbs, hanging pictures).
- Coordinate regular maintenance services (air conditioning/HVAC, fire system, pest control).
- Recognize maintenance issues as they arise.
- Other duties as assigned by the Pastor.
