Job Description

Job Description: Field Service Representative, Naval Gas Turbines

Rolls-Royce Defence deployed services is experiencing significant growth due to increasing customer fleets and expanding support requirements. As a Field Service Representative (FSR), you will operate in deployed locations, both dockside and onboard, providing expert technical advice and performing field service tasks. This includes supporting ship Original Equipment (OE) commissioning and in-service maintenance, repair, and overhaul.

This full-time role is primarily based at HMNB Portsmouth. However, you will be required to deploy (often at short notice) to various Naval Customer locations worldwide for fixed-term assignments. A key requirement for this position is the ability and willingness to work in any deployed location, either independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will be responsible for executing maintenance, repairs, and fault diagnosis for Rolls-Royce Naval Gas Turbine equipment. Collaboration with service providers and shipbuilders will be crucial to minimize disruption and ensure operational availability. You will also ensure specific maintenance programs are delivered, liaising with customers at various levels within the Royal Navy and BAES.

Joining our deployed services community means working at the core of naval operations, supporting ships through commissioning, maintenance, and in-service needs. The work is diverse and impactful, requiring close collaboration with customer stakeholders and internal engineering teams to keep mission-critical assets operating safely and reliably.

We foster an inclusive and innovative culture that invests in your growth, offering a wide array of opportunities to advance your career and make a significant difference. We are committed to an environment of caring and belonging where you can thrive.

What We Offer

We provide excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include performance bonuses, employee support assistance programs, and various employee discounts.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Oversee routine maintenance, repair, and commissioning of Rolls-Royce marine gas turbine equipment, strictly adhering to technical publications and risk assessment outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the on-base Rolls-Royce FSR team to coordinate and deliver contracted commissioning or operational support services for customers.
  • Undertake frequent travel, sometimes at short notice, to support commissioning activities in Glasgow or maintenance tasks for ships operating globally.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with relevant sections of customer organizations and Rolls-Royce to facilitate collaborative delivery.
  • Review engineering changes and their impact on field products, including updates to maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and "red tops," ensuring changes are implemented for safe product operation.

Candidates must pass a field service medical assessment to safely perform essential tasks in challenging environments, such as visual inspections in dark or confined ship engine rooms. All field service staff are required to complete Certified to Operate training and development as part of their comprehensive induction to the deployed services function.
