About the role

Sales Development Engineer - Eastern US

Rohde & Schwarz is seeking a Sales Development Engineer (SDE) to join our phone-based outreach team supporting the Eastern Region Account Manager (AM) teams. This is a front-line hunting role focused on outbound prospecting, lead development, and early-stage qualification.

Your Tasks

  • Conduct targeted outbound prospecting calls to prospects and existing customers within assigned territories.
  • Execute high-volume outbound call campaigns into target accounts.
  • Identify contacts, projects, and buying signals to discover qualified sales opportunities.
  • Qualify and develop inbound leads and marketing responses, assessing fit, timeline, and budget before handing off to Account Managers.
  • Support targeted call campaigns for new product launches, promotions, trade show follow-up, and service/warranty renewals.
  • Re-engage dormant accounts and cold contacts by identifying new contacts, projects, and budgets.
  • Align with R&S Account Managers (AMs) on target accounts and priorities, supporting pre-call planning and account research.
  • Execute structured prospecting campaigns against high-priority target accounts.
  • Actively use CRM to enter contact and call notes, prospecting status, and next steps for the AM.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of SDR/inside technical sales experience with a strong outbound focus (Test and Measurement or related industry preferred).
  • Proven cold calling and prospecting abilities.
  • Proficient in CRM; familiarity with ZoomInfo or LinkedIn Sales Navigator is a plus.
  • Hunter mentality with a bias toward action and persistence.
  • Curious and technically inclined, able to quickly understand customer challenges.
  • Strong follow-up discipline and ownership of early-stage pipeline.
  • Comfortable handling rejection while operating in a high-activity, metric-driven environment.
  • Highly self-motivated and results-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time in the U.S.

Compensation & Benefits

The total compensation for this position is $96K-$130K, which includes base salary, variable pay, and benefits. The range is determined by factors such as position, geographic location, and level.
