As an Associate Director, Integrated Special Education, you will drive the vision and quality of integrated special education within our network.
Position Description
Reporting to the Senior Director of Integrated Special Education, you will be a strategic leader responsible for establishing Rocketship as a premier national model for inclusion in special education. You will partner with organizational leaders, support vision implementation, coach a high-performing team, and ensure excellence in compliance to impact nearly 10,000 Rocketeers, including approximately 10% receiving special education services. This role is based in D.C., TN, or MKE/Chicago and supports teams across regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement Vision & Instructional Model: Collaborate to apply Rocketship’s integrated special education approach and achieve high-quality student outcomes.
- Develop Curriculum & Instruction: Create strategies for curriculum, instruction, assessment, and rapid student growth.
- Strategic Partnership: Serve as a trusted partner to the Senior Director, supporting high achievement across all Rocketeers.
- Ambassador Role: Represent Rocketship Public Schools to external stakeholders, including school directors, funders, and authorizers.
- Team Support & Development: Coach regional special education leaders and design professional development sessions.
- Compliance & Operations: Establish policies, systems, and procedures that meet the highest standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Belief in Rocketship Public Schools' mission and inclusive educational approach.
- Minimum 3 years managing special education and compliance initiatives in a multi-site environment.
- At least 4 additional years of teaching/instructional expertise with proven achievement results.
- Experience with federal and state regulations for special education.
- Experience working with a full range of disabilities and elementary-age students.
- Valid Special Education teaching credential or administrative license; Master’s degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in increased inclusion and decreased behavioral challenges.
- Experience within D.C., TN, or MKE/Chicago regions and strong knowledge of Sped Law and EdCode.
Physical Demands & Compensation
The role entails physical tasks including walking, standing, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and includes excellent health and wellness benefits, a 403b retirement plan, flexible spending account, and generous paid time off.
