As a UX Research Intern, you’ll join a collaborative research and design team where curiosity, rigor, and learning are central to how we work. Researchers at Rocket Lawyer contribute across the full research lifecycle, from discovery to synthesis to storytelling, while growing their skills and ownership over time.
About Your Role
As a UX Research Intern focused on AI Experience, you’ll support research initiatives for our Copilot AI workstream, helping us understand how customers perceive, trust, and interact with AI-powered features. This is an early-career role ideal for someone developing foundational research skills and gaining hands-on experience conducting qualitative research in a fast-moving product environment.
You’ll collaborate closely with the UX Research Lead, designers, product managers, and engineers to support moderated interviews, exploratory studies, and evaluative research. You’ll gain experience translating user insights into actionable findings that influence product direction.
How You Will Make a Difference Day To Day
- Support Research Execution for Copilot AI
- Assist in planning and coordinating moderated user interviews, including recruiting, scheduling, and participant communications.
- Take detailed notes during interviews and help synthesize findings into key themes and insights.
- Support qualitative coding and analysis of research sessions.
- Contribute to research artifacts such as insight summaries, journey maps, and presentations.
- Help maintain research documentation and organize insights in shared repositories.
Learn to Apply Research to Product Decisions
- Partner with more senior designers and product teams to understand research goals and hypotheses.
- Support concept testing and usability evaluations for new Copilot AI features.
- Assist in identifying patterns related to user trust, prompting behaviors, and human-AI workflows.
- Learn how qualitative findings connect to product metrics and experimentation outcomes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Growth
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers throughout the research lifecycle.
- Participate in research readouts, team reviews, and critiques.
- Learn how to balance multiple research tasks in a fast-paced environment with guidance from your manager.
- Stay curious about AI, emerging technologies, and user research best practices.
What You’ll Need
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Design, or a related field.
- Strong interest in UX research, AI experiences, and understanding user behavior.
- Foundational knowledge of qualitative research methods (e.g., interviews, usability testing, surveys).
- Strong organizational and note-taking skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams and learn in a fast-moving environment.
A bonus if you have
- Experience conducting user interviews or usability tests (academic or internship experience welcome).
- Familiarity with research tools such as Dovetail, UserTesting, Lookback, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to AI products or interest in human-AI interaction.
- Basic understanding of product experimentation or analytics.
