About Rocket Lab

Role Overview

The Space Operations Intern in Long Beach, CA will support Rocket Lab’s growing fleet of spacecraft. Gain hands-on experience in spacecraft software development, operations, and mission readiness while working on constellation-level missions and diverse payloads ranging from LEO science to interplanetary exploration.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a bachelor's, master's or doctorate program in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering, or a related field. A minimum GPA of 3.0 and at least one semester remaining post internship is required. Applicants should have a minimum of 3 months of applied engineering experience and proficiency in Python, Linux, and Git.

Nice Additional Skills

  • GPA of 3.5 or above
  • 6+ months of applied engineering experience
  • Understanding of spacecraft systems and mission workflows
  • Experience in AI/ML applications and testing frameworks

Additional Information

This is a full-time, on-site internship for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks starting May or June 2026. Compensation is determined on a case-by-case basis. Rocket Lab values innovation, teamwork, and dedication under pressure. Applicants must meet ITAR requirements depending on their location.
