Job Overview
As a Registered Nurse - Oncology at Rochester Regional Health, you are the engine and heart of patient care. You will provide high-quality, compassionate care in an 18-bed Oncology/Palliative Care unit at Unity Hospital, with opportunities to become chemotherapy certified and gain specialized skills in managing CADD pumps.
Unit Details
The 4400 unit cares for oncology, palliative care, and hospice patients. It is AACN GOLD Beacon award-winning and DNV Palliative Care Certified.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered clinical care and perform ongoing patient assessments.
- Document and communicate patient assessments with the interdisciplinary team.
- Develop individualized plans of care and update based on evaluations.
- Administer medications, comply with safety protocols, and follow provider orders.
- Complete mandatory continuing education and certifications including BLS and chemotherapy certification.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include a Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a valid New York State RN license, and current BLS certification. A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least 6 months of experience are preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This part time position (24 hours per week) requires working day/night shifts, rotating weekends and holidays, and performing physical tasks such as walking, standing, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
