Registered Nurse II - Cardiology

Department: Sands Constellation Heart Institute

Location: Sands Constellation Heart Institute - Brighton

Hours Per Week: 40

Summary

The R.N. II maintains quality patient care through consistent standards of nursing practice in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Utilizes the nursing process: assess, diagnosis, plan, implement and evaluate to execute appropriate individual patient care. Responsible for orientation, training/precepting, and mentoring of other staff on the unit. The R.N. is instrumental in providing an exceptional experience for patient and family.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment: Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Planning & Implementation: Develop and document plan of care, treatment, and services; collaborate with the interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintain an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provide an exceptional experience for the patient and family.
  • Evaluation & Education: Evaluate, communicate, and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities.
  • Training: Provide training for new team members on the unit; act as a teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; serve as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical matters.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Registered Nurse license in New York State.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Registered Nurse.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Education

  • AS: Nursing (Required)

Licenses / Certifications

  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

Physical Requirements

  • M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
  • For disease-specific care programs, refer to program-specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.

Pay Range

$35.34 - $47.13 per hour

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full-time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
