Proposal and Pursuit Specialist
Robinson+Cole is seeking a Proposal and Pursuit Specialist to manage the full lifecycle of legal services pursuits and RFPs. This role goes beyond basic organization, focusing on optimizing content and strategy to create winning proposals for law firm clients. You will collaborate with Business Development Managers and Attorneys, utilizing market intelligence, AI tools, CRM data, and experience databases to enhance the firm's approach. The ideal candidate is driven, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to strategic growth through innovation and efficiency within a legal setting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Proposal Lifecycle Management: Partner with Business Development Managers and Attorneys to manage the entire pursuit process, from content gathering to drafting and formatting RFPs, pitches, and proposals. Leverage generative AI tools to accelerate drafting and editing while ensuring materials are competitive, compliant, and brand-aligned.
- Strategy & Win Rate Optimization: Track and analyze post-pursuit outcomes to identify trends, reporting actionable insights to leadership that directly implement improvements to increase the firm’s overall win rate.
- Knowledge Management: Maintain and optimize the firm’s experience database, standard templates, and marketing collateral. Utilize AI-enhanced tagging and search capabilities to ensure practice group credentials and case studies are accurate, current, and easily retrievable.
- Market Intelligence: Conduct in-depth research on market trends, competitors, and client data to create reports that inform specific pursuit strategies and identify new growth opportunities.
- Data & Reporting: Leverage CRM tools to track business development metrics and generate activity reports that support strategic planning for the Director of Business Development.
Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, English, journalism, or a related field required. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in proposal management, business development, or marketing within a law firm or professional services environment will also be considered.
Industry Experience: Minimum 4+ years of experience in legal or professional services marketing or business development, with a demonstrated ability to independently prepare, manage, and optimize complex pitches and RFPs.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential. Hands-on experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, Interaction) is required.
Proposal Technology: Experience with content management systems and proposal automation software is preferred, with a focus on streamlining workflows and maintaining data integrity. Experience integrating AI tools to streamline workflows is highly desirable.
Strategic Analysis: Demonstrated experience tracking win/loss metrics and leveraging data to provide actionable insights that improve proposal strategy and outcomes.
Location and Compensation
This role can be based in Boston, Hartford, New York, DC, or Philadelphia. For MA applicants, the target base salary range is $85,000 to $90,000. Actual salary will depend on experience, skills, qualifications, and office location.
Work Arrangement and Benefits
