About the Role: Controls & Automation Engineer

The Controls & Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, and implementing robust automation and control systems that support manufacturing operations. This role focuses on ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality production processes and driving continuous improvements using Industry 4.0 technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and support automation/control systems including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control, and SCADA systems.
  • Develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs.
  • Lead or support projects from concept through installation, commissioning, and validation.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, IT, and customer teams for integration.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
  • Drive process optimization, lean practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation including CAD drawings, programs, and manuals.
  • Train personnel on automated equipment and systems.
  • Stay current with emerging industrial automation technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in industrial automation; 10+ years preferred.
  • Expertise in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial networking protocols.
  • Familiarity with electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical).
  • Hands-on experience with robotics, vision systems, sensors, and motion control.
  • Knowledge of SQL-based data systems, MES, and Industry 4.0 principles.
  • Experience with IT/OT integration and languages like Visual Basic or C#.
