AWS Lambda & Webhook Engineer
Overview
We’re seeking a highly capable AWS Connect Lambda & Webhook Engineer to build, maintain, and optimize backend services that power intelligent, scalable customer engagement experiences. This role focuses on developing serverless integrations, webhook‑driven workflows, and API‑based automation that extend the capabilities of Amazon Connect. You’ll work closely with architects, IVR designers, product teams, and business stakeholders to ensure that every integration is reliable, secure, and built for scale.
Key Responsibilities
Serverless Development & Integration
- Design, build, and maintain AWS Lambda functions that support Amazon Connect contact flows, routing logic, and self‑service features.
- Develop and manage webhooks, REST APIs, and event‑driven integrations between Amazon Connect and external systems.
- Implement secure data exchange using API Gateway, IAM roles, Secrets Manager, and encryption best practices.
- Build reusable integration patterns and libraries to accelerate development.
Amazon Connect Engineering
- Support the creation and enhancement of contact flows by providing backend logic, data lookups, and real‑time decisioning.
- Integrate Lambda functions with Connect features such as contact attributes, Lex bots, Contact Lens, and real‑time metrics.
- Troubleshoot issues related to call flows, API failures, latency, and service limits.
Automation & Workflow Orchestration
- Build automated workflows using Step Functions, EventBridge, and SQS/SNS.
- Implement webhook listeners and outbound event triggers to synchronize data across systems.
- Develop monitoring, logging, and alerting for serverless components using CloudWatch and X‑Ray.
- Optimize performance, cost, and reliability of serverless workloads.
Security, Compliance & Best Practices
- Ensure all integrations follow AWS security standards, including least‑privilege IAM, encryption, and secure API design.
- Maintain documentation for Lambda functions, API endpoints, and integration workflows.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and DevOps processes.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience developing serverless applications using AWS Lambda.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js or Python for backend development.
- Hands‑on experience integrating with Amazon Connect via Lambda, APIs, or event streams.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, JSON, and event‑driven architecture.
- Experience with AWS services such as API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, EventBridge, Step Functions, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.
- Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems and serverless performance issues.
- Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, and secure API design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CRM or ticketing system integrations.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of Amazon Connect contact flow design and telephony concepts.
- AWS certification (Developer, Solutions Architect, or Serverless Specialization).
- Experience with observability tools such as X‑Ray, CloudTrail, or third‑party monitoring platforms.
What Success Looks Like
- Reliable, scalable Lambda functions that power seamless customer interactions.
- Clean, well‑documented webhooks and APIs that integrate Amazon Connect with enterprise systems.
