About The Role

Rippling is actively seeking experienced and meticulous payroll professionals to join our team as a German Payroll Support Specialist. In this pivotal role, you will become the ultimate subject matter expert for German payroll within our organization. Your responsibilities will include ensuring comprehensive customer support and empowering our internal teams with the essential knowledge for success. This critical position demands a combination of deep technical payroll expertise and exceptional problem-solving and communication abilities.

What You Will Do

  • Become the authoritative product expert for our Global Payroll and HR functionalities specifically for customers in Germany.
  • Develop and maintain precise, clear content, documentation, and FAQs to support both our valued customers and internal teams.
  • Analyze customer support interactions to pinpoint trends, common pain points, and opportunities to elevate the overall support experience.
  • Collaborate strategically with regional Product Managers, offering insights derived from support volume, customer feedback, and critical compliance considerations.
  • Act as a senior resource and primary escalation point for Customer Support Specialists dealing with complex, Germany-specific payroll issues.
  • Take direct ownership and adeptly resolve the most challenging customer cases by leveraging your profound platform and country-specific payroll expertise.

General Qualifications (Required for all Candidates)

  • Strong client-facing skills coupled with proven experience in managing enterprise customer relationships.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, demonstrated by a track record of investigating and resolving complex payroll discrepancies.
  • A genuine passion for documentation and the proactive sharing of knowledge.
  • Exceptional communication skills and fluency in both English and German, encompassing both written and spoken proficiency.
  • Previous experience working within a payroll provider, an HR software company, or a substantial in-house payroll function is highly preferred.

Region-Specific Qualifications (Germany)

Candidates must meet the general qualifications in addition to the following specific requirements for Germany:

  • 2-3 years of direct, hands-on experience with German payroll processes.
  • Ability to manage and process payroll for employees in Germany, ensuring unwavering accuracy and strict compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Deep understanding of German payroll regulations, including Lohnsteuer (wage tax), Sozialversicherungsbeiträge (social security contributions), and other statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency in handling payroll processing, various wage components (Lohnbestandteile), and all necessary compliance reporting.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to efficiently resolve all payroll-related inquiries.
  • Commitment to staying current with changes in German payroll legislation and promptly implementing any necessary adjustments.
  • Fluent in German and English.
