About The Role
Our Wealth & Trading team is at the forefront of redefining how people invest, using data-driven tools to make smarter financial decisions accessible to everyone. We’re looking for a Head of Middle Office to oversee reconciliations, settlements, and securities lending. What You'll Be Doing
- Owning middle office processes and operations (escalations, controls, SLAs, governance)
- Leading the end-to-end controls framework across live and post-trade controls, settlements, margin monitoring and close-out, securities lending, and corporate actions
- Being the accountable owner for breaks (triage, root-cause analysis, prioritisation, and timely resolution with internal teams and external parties)
- Building a high-performing team, including overseeing hiring, coaching, role design, rota/coverage planning, performance management, and development
- Defining and tracking KPIs/KRIs to demonstrate control quality and operational health (e.g., break rates, aged breaks, settlement success/fail cost, margin breach outcomes)
- Partnering with Finance, Risk, and Compliance to ensure clean handoffs, aligning on product control/ledger, risk monitoring interfaces, and regulatory expectations
- Driving automation and tooling by partnering with Engineering to reduce manual work and scale controls without compromising on quality
- Designing readiness plans, playbooks, and control requirements for new product launches, entities, and vendors
What You'll Need
- 7+ years of experience in middle office, securities, prime, or markets operations within a bank, broker-dealer, market maker, exchange, or tier-1 fintech
- Proven leadership experience building and running operational teams in high-control environments
- A deep understanding of the trade lifecycle (booking, recon, settlement, exceptions) and the interaction between internal books and external parties (LPs, brokers, custodians, banks)
- Knowledge of complex domains, such as margin, securities lending, derivatives/CFDs, or multi-asset operations
- Solid judgement capabilities when under pressure, with the ability to prioritise and lead incident-style resolution across teams
- Excellent analytical skills and to be comfortable working with data
